Liz Versino, and her Pilates program customized to my unique requirements, literally help extend my life.
I began working, one-on-one with Liz in 2012. I was out of shape, had difficulty breathing because of COPD, and felt quite defeated. Liz & I kept track of my breathing progress using a breath-measuring device during my reformer sessions. Soon, I was getting fuller breaths, felt my strength & balance returning, and looked forward to my workouts. Liz suggested that I was ready to add a Pilates Mat Class to my weekly workout. I was SO happy to be able to successfully participate with other seniors in executing most of the exercises! My family was very supportive and excited to see such positive changes in my physical strength and emotional outlook. I even brought my teenage grandson to one of my classes to experience the challenging way Pilates works for any body!
In late 2013, I was diagnosed with lung cancer and fortunately my medical team removed the tumor with no chemo or radiation required. Even though I was 74 and not the ideal surgical candidate, my medical team decided I was in excellent physical condition thanks to my Pilates work.
After recovery from the surgery, I turned once again to Liz, who designed a Pilates workout that took into account my limitations. She coached me during one on one sessions while I recovered my strength and stamina, then encouraged me to participate once again in classes, which pushed me back to being a more flexible, stronger senior citizen. And she kept my spirits up during challenging times!
Today, I am still battling lung issues (different problem, same weak lungs), and thanks to my miracle-worker Liz, I am again a candidate for a challenging surgery even at 76+ years.
My pulmonologist said that my Pilates and Cardio workouts were smart investments in my health bank account that is paying remarkable dividends today.
You are never too old, or too damaged, or too discouraged to benefit from Pilates—put your body, mind and spirit in Liz Versino’s capable hands and prepare to be absolutely amazed at what you can accomplish.
